This world is not our home.
Let that sink in a little bit. This world... is NOT... our home.
With that in mind, why is it so difficult for us to stand up and represent our true home ... heaven? I am no exception, by any means. I find that I keep getting plugged in to this Matrix as I'm in it. I'm reminded of Agent Smith's speech during the movie...
"I hate this place. This zoo. This prison. This reality, whatever you want to call it, I can't stand it any longer. It's the smell, if there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste your stink and every time I do, I fear that I've somehow been infected by it."
While I don't often relate with the agents, as they represent the darkness of this world, that speech is pretty representative of how I feel about the world right now. I do feel infected. I have been infected. It takes a daily cleansing, a daily unplugging from the MACHINES to remember what is real.
We've got major problems right now. The Western Gulf Coast is an apocalyptic nightmare. Martial law is in effect. The best and the worst of people is simultaneously present. People are showing amazing courage one moment, but then you turn around and hear about gun fights and people shooting rescue helicopters. It's stunning. This is America. And I can't help but think that the images we see now are a pretext of something we'll all face. Try this link too.
In other news, the Chief Rehnquist has died, and in an unprecedented turn of events, the president will have two simultaneous Supreme Court picks, and will also appoint the next Chief Justice. Some things are just not right. The man who invoked the convenient name of our Lord fails to mention Him or show any real emotion during the unbelievable tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. The man who called terrorists evildoers during 9/11 has allegedly called striking union workers "evil."
Something's just not right here.
Like Cypher, I think we've been betrayed by someone who masquerades as part of the resistance. It's hard for me to pray for this person, but I know that's the only defense we really have. Or... offense?
Heaven (or Zion in Matrix terms) is our home... Once we embrace what our savior has done for us and realize that this world has no power over us, the rapidly deteriorating situation in this world doesn't phase us as much, and we are given purpose. We can see the Matrix for what it is, and have the power to dodge the bullets of evil shot at us by enemies we can't even see.
Free your mind. Faith is not a political party. It's not a boycott. It's not a t-shirt with a witty message. It's having hope for those things that we don't see yet. It's intimately trusting the King of the Universe, Jesus Christ. It's reading His assembled Word, the Bible, and by trusting it, developing a relationship with God.
Faith in this world and our consumerist, day-to-day lives will only lead to hell in a handbasket. We need more. Where is your home? ::MH::
