Services this past weekend were amazing. Perhaps my only regret was not being able to experience any of the five services in its entirety; I really only caught bits and pieces. Well, that might not be my only regret. I regret banging my elbow on the stage as I was thrown from Jesus’ back.
For those of you who don’t know, I was in a version of the popular YouTube/GodTube sensation, the “Everything” skit, which depicts a girl’s downward spiral away from Jesus and into the troubles of life. I played a demon, the lust demon apparently, who was embodied as a suave, debonair, and ultimately abusive boyfriend.
Rehearsals were good — except for when I gave the lead girl an ACCIDENTAL concussion and whiplash (TRAUMATIZING!) — and God made it all work out despite some gnarly Monday rehearsals that conflicted with the dreaded “Moozday” deadline for work. It all worked. I can’t say I wasn’t exhausted after five total performances, but as I was leaving church yesterday (Resurrection Sunday) I saw all the people still lingering at the “Yes” table, ready to give their lives to the Lord, and a ton of other people scattered around the auditorium engaged in some serious prayer — and I thought, “Wow, this is SO worth it.” Nothing I do comes close to the relevance of what happened here this weekend.
I’m going to miss this “Everything” drama. I’m always sad when productions end, and I think it’s worse in church productions because you get to see lives changed before your eyes. I just can’t wait to see the scene on video. You’d better believe I’ll post it here!
Well, on my way to Manzanita for some much-needed rest, relaxation, and recharging. Couldn't have come at a better time...
