You've seen the movie, right? In essence, Thomas A. Anderson is violently shaken from his comfortable, somewhat mundane life as a software programmer to find that in fact, he has been living in a dream world. With the help Trinity, Morpheus and others, he finds that his life has been a facade -- sentient, malevolent machines have enslaved humanity, using humans' heat energy for power. But the conquered humans are unaware of their captivity, as they enjoy a humdrum life in a computer simulation called the Matrix.
It's a great concept, one I don't think the creators the Wachowski brothers could have possibly realized was dead on.
The truth is, we all involved in the battle of all time. Like the agents in the movie, there are real, evil, demonic forces hell-bent on bringing humans down. Sometimes they are obvious, other times not so obvious.
Unlike the unsure, reluctant Neo in the movies, humanity has a real savior -- Jesus Christ. Without Him, we are like the people who are "plugged in" to the machines' power plants; we are merely feeding the forces that ultimately enslave us and want to see us subdued and destroyed.
Jesus came and died to the world system so that we can have a relationship with the system's greatest enemy -- God the Father. Those of us who put our trust in Him are "unplugged" and our eyes are opened to the true battle that rages. He loves us, and waits for us to seek His saving power. Like Neo after his "slimy rebirth," we realize the truth of the world we live in: we're in a war. And we have to tell others so they aren't used and destroyed by the world system of sin.
Many, like Cypher in the film, think that the war is too much to handle, and without putting their faith in the Savior, ask to be put back into the system. Sometimes people's love of a safe, comfortable world keeps them from true freedom, and from being destroyed by those who want to destroy.
Like the human population in the movie, we are all born into the system -- we inherited sinful nature from Adam. We're hopelessly stuck unless we are freed by the truth -- and that truth is that Christ beat the system, and those that believe in Him can, too.
Interestingly, not unlike the rules of gravity and physics that can be broken in the Matrix, God's Word promises that if we had enough faith, we could move mountains, among other things. That sounds like a bend in the traditional rules to me.
But you have to get unplugged first.
There's no question if whether or not a war is going on. The news shows that the kingdom of sin advances daily. Families are ripped apart by pornography, addictions and violence. Noah-era conditions are quickly returning to the earth. The final battle will soon be in play. The real question is, how do you respond to the war? Do you fall down and die? Do you do a Cypher and play ignorant? Or do you fight back against the real forces that attack the everlasting soul?
I hope in this space you will get an idea of the spiritual conflicts going on in this in-between world. Feel free to post questions, challenge my concepts, and ask anything. It is time to free your mind. ::MH::

Actually, Drew, while I am an avid RELEVANT subscriber, I don't believe
Constantine has the same approach the Matrix had. By reading this
review, I would rather just steer clear of it altogether... although I must
say I was enticed...
